Before buying a trailer, understand GVW, payload, own weight, loading dimensions, axle count, frame, floor, tyres and equipment. Only the combination of these values shows whether the model fits the vehicle, load and work.
What does GVW mean?
GVW is the maximum allowed weight of the trailer with cargo. It affects road legality, towing vehicle limits and driver licence requirements.
Payload and own weight
Payload is the real weight you can carry. Own weight is the empty trailer weight. Two models with similar GVW can have different practical payload.
Loading space and axles
Length, width and side height decide whether the load fits. One axle improves manoeuvrability, while two axles improve stability with heavier loads.
Frame, floor, tyres and equipment
Check frame type, floor, sides, tyres, support wheel, securing points, tarp, ramps and brakes. These details decide durability and ease of work.
