List the largest items first
Start with the items that take up the most room: tool cases, equipment, transport racks or furniture. Measure them as they will travel, including handles, projecting parts and packaging. Decide which items must be carried together. Their combined volume alone does not tell you whether they can be arranged usefully inside the trailer.
Check the doorway separately
Internal dimensions and clear door-opening dimensions are different measurements. An item may fit inside but fail to pass through the doorway in its required position. Ask about usable opening width and height, the threshold and any fittings that reduce access. Tell the seller if the equipment cannot be tilted.
Browse the box and enclosed trailer catalogue. If a product page does not specify the doorway size, ask for confirmation rather than estimating it from photographs.
Plan unloading order
If you visit several jobs during a day, access to frequently used items matters. Sketch the interior layout and identify what should sit near the door. A side door may improve access, but its availability and position depend on the model. Before adding racks or a fitted interior, confirm the permitted mounting method. Do not assume that every wall can accept fixings.
Allow for the weight of fitted equipment
Racks, storage cases and accessories occupy space and affect the weight of the configuration. Compare payload for the equipment you will actually order. Review both braked box trailers and unbraked box trailers, then check the load and towing vehicle requirements. A larger interior is not permission to carry equipment of any weight.
Prepare an enquiry that can be answered precisely
Ask for internal and doorway dimensions, the intended loading method, securing points and permitted mounting arrangements. Confirm which equipment is included in the stated specification and whether the seller can measure the actual trailer. If you are still choosing the type of enclosure, read the tarpaulin trailer versus box trailer comparison. Send Witmar your measurements to discuss the final configuration and current availability.
