Start with your menu and trading locations
Choose a catering trailer around the way you intend to serve customers. Coffee and ready-made pastries need a different layout from meals cooked to order. List the appliances, the number of staff working together and the sequence from ordering to preparation, handover and cleaning. Decide whether you will move frequently or trade mainly at one location.
Draw the interior before ordering
Mark appliance dimensions, door openings, stock storage and working space on a floor plan. Check counter height and the serving window from both the customer and staff perspective. Consider how appliances will enter the trailer: the doorway must allow installation and later replacement. Ask for usable interior dimensions rather than relying only on external measurements.
Calculate the weight of the finished configuration
The empty trailer weight does not automatically include all the equipment you plan to install. Add appliances, fitted furniture, stock, packaging, water and other transported supplies. Ask the seller what the stated unladen weight includes and how much payload will remain after fitting. Heavy equipment placement and permitted coupling load need checking for the actual configuration. Do not assume that any interior arrangement will be suitable.
Confirm power, water and ventilation
Prepare a list of appliances and their power requirements. Check the services available at your intended locations, connection arrangements and how installations will be managed during trading and transport. Ask about tanks, cleaning access and ventilation suited to the equipment. Confirm business requirements and installation inspections with the relevant authorities and contractors before ordering; purchasing the trailer alone does not establish that the entire operation is ready to trade.
Compare the scope of delivery
Separate the chassis, body, installations, appliances and optional equipment in each quotation. Request an itemised list, warranty terms, servicing arrangements and handover documents. Agree who will complete the fitting and check the equipment. Ask Witmar about the current catering trailer range, including FoodyWheel. Model availability, equipment and delivery dates must be confirmed individually.
